1,777 PLANTS FOR ONLY $5.97 EA.

Spring is here and it’s time to get busy outside the confines of our homes. I’ve already had emails from those who are building new homes and are ready to do their landscaping and I’ve had a lot of emails from people wanting to change some plants in their landscape and some who want to do a complete makeover. Many people excited to get out and get playing in the dirt and it’s only several weeks ago we had snow on the ground!

Every week we have some new plants that are finally leafed out and look great that we move from our growing area to our sales area. Since we grow our plants right here in Lancaster County they are well acclimated to our weather. This is a real plus to you since many plants that come from the south to PA to be sold here just don’t make it because of the harsher weather we have. Around here we do not “baby” our plants. I tell people if they live here they will thrive in your Landscape. To help we have two other important things for you. One is a guide for those who purchase Rhododendrons, Azaleas, or Mountain Laurel. This is a super care guide sheet that will help you grow these successfully in your landscape. We also have our Planting Guide Sheet for shrubs and trees. If you don’t see them just ask for one. Now on to the short list of plants we have available. We have found out our minds are very young but our bodies won’t always co-operate as we would like so sometimes the priority is making beautiful plants for our customers rather than taking or even having the time to list them all. I’ll give you an example from just today. I discovered we have beautiful Birch Trees to add to the sales area. Didn’t even know we had them in the grow area and we even have a few other new ones this week. So here we go with a partial list.

Weigela, Java Red

We have Flowering Weigela’s like Java Red, a real blooming machine in late spring into early summer and a perfect Mothers Day Gift that keeps on giving. We also have Red Prince, my wife’s favorite and Variegated with its pink and white bloom. These are easily kept to less than 36″ by trimming once a year. We have Red Twig Dogwood, Yellow Twig Dogwood, and Variegated Dogwood to add color to your winter Landscape. Then we have Nugget Ninebark and Royalty Ninebark. You will love color of the Ninebark foliage! Oh yes, we have Viburnums Burkwoodii, Arrowwood, and Summer Snowflake. I can smell the fragrant Viburnum just typing it here. Try one, you’ll love it.

We have many other shrubs like Burning Bush, Potentilla Gold Drop, Potentilla Abbottswood, Honeysuckle Butterfly, Mock Orange, Hypericum Gemo, Hypericum Sunburst, Forsythia, Inkberry Holly, Itea, Butterfly Bush, Dierville Copper, and help, everything is running together in my mind. It’s the  short circuiting brain cells at work! Oh yes, Kathy to the rescue. She said not to forget the Quince Cameo with its early Spring Salmon Flower Bloom and the Quince Crimson & Gold with its beautiful Red Blooms. Take a look at the pictures below. We had blooms on these in December! Wow! If you don’t have Quince in your landscape, find a place and very early next spring you will be glad you did.

We had nice moderating temperatures in March and we thought we’ll have some nice April weather. Wrong again! Lots of very cold nights affecting the growth rates of many plants. Lots of mild days creating buds on plants followed by 21-25 degree nights does not make for fun in the plant business. But here we are with temperatures in the 60’s and nights in the 40 degree range helping to bring on spring. We have a large selection of home grown plants this year that will upgrade your landscape.

Every week we have some new plants that are finally leafed out and look great that we move from our growing area to our sales area. FIRST SALE OF THE YEAR!

Friday, April 22, 2016      8 AM to 6 PM

Saturday, April 23, 2016      8 AM to 4 PM

4,667 PLANTS FOR ONLY $5.97 EA.

Spring is here and it’s time to get busy outside the confines of our homes. I’ve already had emails from those who are building new homes and are ready to do their landscaping and I’ve had a lot of emails from people wanting to change some plants in their landscape and some who want to do a complete makeover. Many people excited to get out and get playing in the dirt and only a week ago snow on the ground!

We’ve had some extreme weather variations this winter and I promised a picture of what happens when you have to much (32″) of wet snow on a hoop houses designed to protect your plants. We rented 3 hoop houses on a neighbors property to place plants in over the winter mainly to protect them from winters dry, freezing cold winds. When the wet snow came one of the hoop house collapsed.    004_4

The next day we knew we had to clean the snow off of the other two or we would have two more problems. We hiked from the plowed road to the hoop houses in waist deep snow and shoveled around both hoop houses and pulled the snow off of them. What a job! We figured our minds are a whole lot younger than our bodies!!!!!

We had nice moderating temperatures in March and we thought we’ll have some nice April weather. Wrong again! Lots of very cold nights affecting the growth rates of many plants.   Saturday

October 3,  2015

2697 Shrubs and Perennials must be sold this weekend at the crazy low price of $5.97 each while they last!

I know this is a crazy low price but I have to make room for my new plants coming on, so these plants must go NOW! Listen carefully! I’ve got some really nice plants that are raring to grow. Plant them now for a beautiful spring landscape. It’s first come first served and when they are gone, there gone! We’ve got lots of shrubs, perennials, and small trees.

Grab your blue or red pen and circle the things you are interested in. The list is almost endless so here we go!

First we have a bunch of Java Red Weigela, Variegated Flowering Weigela and Red Prince Weigela (my wife’s favorite) with red blooms. We also have the Minuet Weigela that is the dwarf of the group and only grows to a height of 30”. All of these rebloom late summer after a spectacular spring bloom.

4 Weigelas

We have Burkwoodii Viburnums that are very fragrant as well as Arrowwood Viburnum and yes, I know there are Cranberry Bush Viburnums somewhere down in the sale area.

Edible berry producers like Aronia Chokeberry Viking, Blackberry Triple Crown Thornless (makes me hungry now), Elderberry Sambuscus produces berries great for jams and jellies.

Hypericums like Gemo and Sunburst. Itea Henry’s Garnet read to grow!

For early bloomers we have Chaenomeles Quince Cameo and Crimson n Gold. You’ll love the flowers on these. Then we have the ever popular Lynwood Forsythia with its early yellow bloom. Great for hedges. New this year is the Kumson Forsythia with variegated leaves. Check it out while they last.

Crimson n GoldWe have what I consider a highly underrated landscape plant the Clethra. We have the Hummingbird Summersweet and the Ruby Spice Summersweet dwarf. Give them a try and you’ll like them.

Come on Tom, stay awake. Oh yes, we have ground covers like Blue Rug Juniper, Blue Chip Juniper and the always popular Cotoneaster “Queen of Carpers” and more my tired mind can’t think of.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…………..

Well, I’m back at it! I fell asleep and when I woke up it was time to get ready for our annual Fishing Trip to Canada. So off we went, Kathy, me, and the boat and our great friends, Ken & Carolyn. What a trip – we caught 269 fish! Take a look at the pictures, especially the sunset one. Made me want to stay.

We have Japanese Maples for only $5.97. We have Snow Dwarf Mock Orange which is a great blooming machine and small size to boot.

Think Tom think! Yes, Royalty Ninebark fit for a King and of course Ninebark Nugget. Put a purple burgundy and yellow nugget in your landscape. People will ask where you got that combo!

We have a very limited supply of Mugo Pines and Bird’s Nest Spruce available. Both are cute and slow growing evergreens.

I see Abbottswood Potentilla and Gold Drop Potentilla. Both make beautiful landscape additions. We also have Golden Vicary Privet.

Abbottswood Potentilla

I should be committed for selling the redbuds I have for $5.97 each. They are beautiful and we don’t have a lot of them. Hurry over Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday.

Oh yes Grasses!

Look, I’m the guy who lost 50 lbs. since February and didn’t use pills, surgery, or magic potions. If you can’t find me, for sure, my wife Kathy who has lost 42 lbs. had the guys in white coats take me away for selling grasses like Cherry Sparkler, Fireworks, and Sky Rocket for only $5.97. Come to think of it, I am crazy!!!! Please don’t tell anyone I said that.

Holly – oh yes my beautiful Blue Boy, Blue Girl, Winterberry Jim Dandy and Red Sprite and somewhere in this place is Sky Pencil Holly.

Now those precious perennials like Amethyst Mist, Capaccino, Melting Fire, Raspberry Regal Cora Bells. These are favorites of mine!

I have Deutzia Nikko in limited supply. I have Copper Dierville which is a beautiful plant for fall color and somewhere are some Burning Bush as well. Then for spectacular winter color, we feature Red Twig Dogwood, Yellow Twig Dogwood, and Variegated Red Twig Dogwood.

Oh I almost forgot, we have trees. Let’s see – we have white blooming Kousa Dogwood, Red Flowering Dogwood and I think some pink flowering Dogwood, Japanese Whitespire Birch, Prunus Okame Cherry, Yoshino cherry, and Virginia Sweetbay Magnolia are at or below Wholesale Prices. It’s the best time to plant trees.

We have Golden Curl Willow that do well in wet areas for the ridiculous low price of $9.97 each. They are in 3-5 gallon containers and about 5 ft high. They make great shade trees. Oh, Oh, and weeping Cherry Trees for $19.97 each – a steal at that price! I need to plant one myself!

Listen up! These are the rules of engagement. I don’t do phones! Way too busy! Just get in your car, SUV or truck and come and see what we have.

People often ask why we sell most plants for $5.97. The reason is that I think of you, the plant buying public should have an option. Most of our product we grow ourselves so the margin of profit allows us to do this. We put them in special pots and sell at prices almost anyone can afford. There are all kinds of places where you can buy expensive plants. Our job is to give you a chance to buy plants at a lower price.

We are located at 557 Hackman Road just North of Lititz, PA. The Zip Code is 17543 to use in that GPS thingy. Just come on over Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – pull in the driveway and park on the grass.

Lastly, we only sell plants a few weekends each year. Don’t miss out! Come right now Saturday, October 3, 2015,  8 AM to 3 PM. I can’t wait to meet you. Now get in the car, SUV, or truck and get over here and look for Tom & Kathy in the green shirts, ready and willing to help you!

Huge Nursery Plant Sale

This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday

2,997 Plants Must Be Sold This

Weekend! Only $5.97 Each

While They Last!

You have to help me out! My wife is an accountant.  She took inventory and said we have way too many plants and we have to get rid of at least 2,997 plants right now.  Most of these plants are only $5.97 each, while they last.

This is completely crazy to see these plants for $5.97 each but we must lower the inventory to make room around here!

Print out this page, grab a red or blue pen and circle the things you want.  This is what we have……..

We have some really nice Gold Flame Spirea, a hot seller @ $5.97 each. We also have Blue Rug Juniper ready to cover those steep banks as well as cover the ground in your landscape beds.  It is very low growing making for simple maintenance.  We have Salix Hakuro Nishiki in 3 and 5 gal. containers for $5.97 each and they won’t last long.

Salix on my front bank are spectacular!

Our Chaenomeles, Quince, Crimson n Gold are to die for with these early spring blooms of red with golden centers make you forget the long cold winter quickly.

We have Gold Thread Cypress that add color to your landscape.  We have Lynnwood Forsythia in 2 and 3 gal. containers that give that early spring brilliant yellow you see in April.  Make nice hedge rows.

We have Pieris Japonica Mountain Fire and Dorothy Wycoff – either a not addition to your landscape.

We have a ton of flowering shrubs that are flat out pretty!  Variegated Weigela has a beautiful variegated leaf with a beautiful white and pink flower!  Red Prince Weigela is a sight to behold with its dark green foliage and bright red flowers.  This variety will bloom in spring and again later summer.  Then we have the Minuet Weigela.  This beautiful “dwarf” plant (30” or less) makes it perfect for small areas.

You’re circling what you want right?

I’ve got some really nice Lemon Princess Spirea.  The bright yellow color makes it a great accent plant in the landscape.  We also have Little Princess Spirea, Anthony Waterer Spirea.  We now have Neon Flash Spirea which is low and compact growing.  Those deep pink flowers truly have that neon effect.

 Geez!  I almost forgot!

I’ve got beautiful Azaleas.  One I like is called Gibraltar which has an orange bloom that really looks cool in the landscape.  We have several other azaleas that give white, pink, and orchid blooms.  Then we have several cultivars of Rhododendrons.  Somewhere around here you will find a few Triple Crown Thornless Blackberry.

We have 4 or 5 kinds of Lilacs including the “old time” favorite – Old Fashioned Lilac.

Thinking, Thinking, Thinking, oh yeah, we have Red Twig Dogwood, Variegated Red Twig Dogwood and even Yellow Twig Dogwoods.  Then there are Hypericums, Mock Orange, and a whole lot more at $5.97 each.

I know I have a whole lot more varieties, but I’m tired and my brain has slowed down.

Oh yeah….. I forgot we have Daylilies and Hostas at lower prices!

We have a ton of stuff.  Too much to list.  You have to come out and look around, chat a while and grab a few plants.

Program your GPS for Longview Nursery, 557 Hackman Rd., Lititz, PA  17543, just a little north of Lititz near the small community of Brunnerville.  When you get to Brunnerville – look for the green $5.97 plant signs and follow the arrows.  When you get to us, pull in the driveway and park on the grass.  We have lots of parking.

It’s Good I’m Married To An Accountant!!

It’s good I’m married to an accountant.  She just reminded me of several things.  For payment we accept cash, checks, and credit cards.  We are only open Thursday and Friday – 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday – 8 AM to 3 PM.

Finally she is saying you “forgot” your beloved “Tree City”.  Oh yes, I’m tired and more forgetful than I used to be.  WE have trees like Cleveland Flowering Pears, Red, White, and Pink Dogwoods, Flowering Cherries and more at or near wholesale pricing.  You don’t want to miss “Tree City”!

One last thing, we are very busy potting plants, etc.  We don’t do phones and we have little time for emails.  We’re just two semi-retired people who work very hard.  IF you can – tell your 30 year old children and friends about our plant sale.  They are glued to their electronic devices and don’t read newspapers.  They believe they are well connected to what’s going on, but obviously are not or they would know about our plant sale!  How will they ever “function” without us?
